DECELACID® is an aid in the digestion of protein and as a source of hydrochloric acid. DECELACID® tablets contain a 'control factor' to decelerate the release of the ingredients in the stomach in a time pattern duplicating normal secretory rates. Lowered levels of digestive acids can prevent proper absorption of many important nutrients and produce gastrointestinal discomfort.

The digestive process begins with stomach acids breaking down ingested foods, then transforming them into bioavailable, absorbable nutrients. The production of digestive acids is altered by many influences, including age, stress, disease, physical condition and allergies. It is important to note that the symptoms for hypoacidity are virtually the same as hyperacidity and is often misdiagnosed. Gastric distress hypoacidity, a deficiency in acid content, results in a decrease in nutrient absorption, especially in minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. Glutamic acid hydrochloride is the main ingredient in DECELACID® and it has three key functions in the body. It helps in the digestion of proteins by activating pepsinogen, which is the predecessor of pepsin. It helps to destroy microorganisms found in food particles that could potentially lead to food poisoning, parasites, as well as viral and bacterial infections. It also aids in the absorption of vitamin B12.

Papain is another ingredient in DECELACID® that is derived from the papaya fruit. It is a powerful proteolytic digestive enzyme that can reduce stomach pain, constipation, bloating, inflammation and support digestive health. Papain breaks down large proteins into small peptides and amino acids, giving it the ability to improve digestion and nutrient absorption.

Pepsin is the final ingredient in DECELACID®. Similarly to papain, pepsin is an enzyme that breaks down proteins into peptides for digestion. It does this to allow for easier nutrient absorption in the intestinal lining. It can also help the body to stimulate bile and better absorb vitamin B12.
